a poem of sorts

Crumbs

Change the world

break down the barriers

look harder, inside,

insight

Apathy grows

and shrinks

So sympathize for a day

Appreciate life!

Disaster will change the world

When it’s in the spotlight

For a moment we care

finally reality in

sinks

But what happens when the channel changes

We all go back to the same old thing

That fifty inch plasma screen

like you, it shows only false images

You wanna Supersize that?

Heck yes!

Or self conscious celebrities starving by choice

But still they consume,

consume,

consume.

Showcasing a 7th dream home

Souping up Jags

and Ferraris

Buying $1000 dresses (for one night venues)

Which is more depressing to watch?

Your favourite store closed out

Who would have thought

Corporations undercut prices

to beat your neighbours

down

Greed.

Wealth.

Power.

Our proverbial things

necessary for survival

Disregard for the law

Your safety is taken for granted

Should mine be too?

And school, your job.

Privileges

What will happen when you wake up and it is gone

No longer able to

Drive down the block for milk

Max out credit cards in return for happiness J

Fly to Cancun for vacations

Instead we find

Nothing nothing nothing nothing’s

left

So I write letters for human rights

And I sign petitions

Spreading the message

But still I sit in bewilderment

Seeing the nation

Engorged in our daily rituals

So alien and over dramatic

Teetering on the brink

It will all come crashing down

Society

Falling

Humanity

Failing

Was it worth it?
